“Inside your head say, how do you feel?” For little ones - “Say, hey body how do you feel?”
“Wait for an answer, remember all emotions are OK”
“Raise your hand if you would like to share how you feel”
Let the children share their responses. Try not to give any value to what most consider negative or positive emotions. All answers have equal value because the goal is to identify what we feel. If a child struggles to name the emotion they can go back to a thumbs up, thumbs down, thumb sideways.
