Share 1 - Social Autopsy
Here is the script for a social autopsy. Practice this at least initially with an imagined scenario so that it doesn’t get into finger pointing or sharing that is too personal.
“Imagine that you just had a disagreement or fight with a friend.”
Let the kids share with a buddy or lead this as a group discussion.
“How do you think your body might feel?” Eg. Hot face, tight chest, clenched fists, sick tummy….
“What emotion do you think this is?” Eg. Fear, anger, sadness…
It is important to lead this discussion with non-judgment and awareness that life is sometimes tricky, that’s just being human. Rather than offer solutions about what to do next, teach the kids now to sit with the emotion.
"Hands up who has ever been in this situation before." The suggestion here is that everyone!
"Remember all emotions are ok and that sometimes tricky situations happen. Listening to your body will help you “Name it to tame it”".
